DESCRIPTION:In this brand new master class at Hammerspace our resident swor
 dsmith Dave will be guiding 3-4 intrepid smiths through all the steps of m
 aking a short sword from scratch. \nWe will begin with some specialized st
 eel meant for high performance\, strength\, and edge retention: 5160 Sprin
 g Steel \nThis carbon steel has the perfect balance between toughness and 
 edge retention. It's extremely forgiving to heat treat\, with exceptional 
 hardness and fine grain structure. This steel has great stability in quenc
 h and is easy to work with and grind\, even at higher hardnesses. \nOn Sat
 urday\, we will learn to grind a sword profile\, create a fuller for the c
 enter of our blades and bevel the edges. We will prepare our tangs for our
  cross guards and handles and finally heat treat our blade to complete our
  work for day one. \nOver night\, our smith will complete the tempering pr
 ocess. \nOn Sunday\, we will begin by forging our crossguards and machinin
 g our pommels\, interspersed with cleaning and sanding our blades from day
  1. We will complete our day by creating exotic hardwood handles and leath
 er spacers and assembling our finished sword. \nThis is a full weekend eve
 nt\, with a lunch intermission both days.\nFeel free to order or bring foo
