Water bottle; pocket knife or fixed blade (Victorinox Trekker, Leatherman with saw, or Mora recommended); day pack; sleeping mat and bag appropriate for season; weather-appropriate clothing and footwear (rain gear required fall-spring); headlamp or flashlight; food/meals (Mountain House or backpacker meals suggested); optional: camping stove, cooler, personal survival gear.
