Landscape Needle Felting

Workshop Online / virtual

Tuesday, June 30  ~ 7:00pm-8:00pm EST Step inside artist and backpacker Kris Grenier’s studio for a behind-the-scenes look at how a woolen landscape comes to life. In this 45-minute live demonstration (followed by a 15-minute Q&A), Kris will walk attendees through her process of translating reference imagery into a needle-felted landscape. Participants will learn how to: select and work from reference imagery, blend custom wool colors to achieve depth and atmospheric nuance, use needle-felting techniques to create shapes and lines, apply foundational color theory to landscape work, build highlights and shadows to create the illusions of form and light and harness wool’s unique properties to develop layers and textures. This demonstration is ideal for beginners curious about felting as well as makers looking to expand their textile vocabulary. It also serves as a preview of the September workshop, where participants will explore both wet-felting and needle-felting techniques to create their own landscapes. Cost: $25 This demonstration will be conducted live as a Zoom Webinar. Participants tune in without video or sound keeping all focus on the artist’s demonstration. Participants can communicate through the chat and submit questions through the Q&A feature during the live event. Participants will receive an email from Peters Valley at least 48 hours prior that includes a link and a password. Only registered participants will be admitted. Peters Valley records online programs and shares them with registered participants as a non-downloadable link for one month following the live event.
